Privacy policy

PennyWise is published by Black and Blue. This policy applies to the PennyWise Android app and this website.

Information processed on your device

PennyWise processes information you enter or deliberately import, such as accounts, balances, transactions, merchants, categories, budgets, recurring bills, notes, savings information, split-ledger entries, rules, settings, and receipt attachments. Exported CSV files and receipts saved outside app-private storage remain where you place them.

Service providers

• Google Play processes installation, licensing, subscription purchases, payments, refunds, and fraud controls.
• RevenueCat processes an anonymous app-user identifier, product and entitlement status, purchase history, and limited device/app diagnostics needed for billing and support. PennyWise does not send balances, amounts, merchants, categories, receipt content, or notes as subscriber attributes.
• Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics process privacy-scoped app interactions, app-instance and device/app information, masked-network-derived coarse country or region, crash traces, and diagnostics. Events must not include financial values or content, receipts, or user-entered labels.

Permissions

PennyWise uses Android's system picker for receipts, model files, and exports, so it receives access only to files you deliberately select or create. Optional app lock uses the system biometric or device-credential prompt. PennyWise does not request SMS, contacts, location, camera, microphone, or broad media-library access.

Sharing, sale, security, and retention

We do not sell personal information, show third-party ads, collect the advertising ID, aggregate bank accounts, or provide personalized financial advice. Data is disclosed only to the service providers above, when you request support, or when legally required. Local data is retained until you delete it. Billing and diagnostic providers keep records according to their policies and legal obligations.

Children and teenagers

PennyWise is intended for people aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. A parent or guardian should supervise a minor's financial records and Google Play purchases.

Google Play Data Safety summary

• Financial records and selected receipts are processed locally and are not collected by Black and Blue.
• Purchase history is collected by Google Play and RevenueCat for subscriptions, entitlement verification, fraud prevention, and support.
• App interactions, app-instance and device/app information, masked-network-derived coarse country or region, crash logs, and diagnostics are collected by Firebase for analytics, reliability, and security.
• Data sent to service providers is encrypted in transit. There are no ads, advertising-ID collection, or sale of user data.

The final Play Console form must match the exact signed candidate and these published practices.

Financial-data deletion

1. Delete individual transactions, accounts, budgets, bills, rules, savings items, or receipt links inside PennyWise.
2. Use PennyWise's financial-data deletion control for app-managed records where available.
3. To remove all local app data, use Android Settings → Apps → PennyWise → Storage → Clear storage, or uninstall PennyWise.
4. Delete exported CSV files or receipt copies separately from the location where you saved them.

To request deletion of Firebase or RevenueCat records we can administer, email developer@blackandblue.co.in with the subject PennyWise privacy request. Include only the minimum locator requested by support, such as the anonymous app-user identifier or Google Play order identifier. Never email financial records or receipts.

Google Play may retain payment, tax, dispute, fraud, or legal records. Deleting billing metadata does not cancel a subscription; manage or cancel it in Google Play.

Terms of use

You must be at least 13 and legally able to agree to these terms. PennyWise is a budgeting and record-keeping utility—not a bank, lender, broker, tax preparer, or financial adviser.

• You are responsible for the accuracy of entries, imports, categories, forecasts, reports, exports, and decisions based on them. Review parsed receipt text before saving.
• PennyWise does not move money, execute bank transactions, guarantee savings, or replace professional financial, tax, investment, or legal advice.
• PennyWise Plus subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled in Google Play before renewal. Google Play shows the localized price, billing period, annual-trial eligibility, renewal terms, taxes, and refund handling before purchase.
• Core ledger use, export, security, and deletion remain available without a subscription. Paid features require a valid entitlement and network access for purchase or restore.
• Keep independent backups of exports you need. Device loss, clearing app storage, or uninstalling can permanently remove local-only records.

Nothing here excludes consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded. We may update the app or these terms for security, product, policy, or legal reasons; material changes will be reflected by the date above.
